Marriages Day

Christ Church Anglican Parish of Ingleside-Long Sault Evensong service at 7:00 PM.
All are welcome.

Evensong is a traditional Anglican service of evening prayer, using the
Elizabethan language of our Book of Common Prayer.  Its origin as a service
is in the chanted prayer services of Benedictine monks, who would sing their
prayers together in the evening before bed-time.  The Church of England
adapted these prayer services at the time of the Reformation, and translated
them into English.  Evensong has become an important part of traditional
Anglican worship, and though less commonly celebrated in Canada, it remains
popular throughout the Church of England. The prayers focus on concerns of
the day, strength and wisdom for those in leadership, and blessing and
protection through the night.  A traditional evensong contains
congregational hymns, readings from scripture, a short sermon, and prayers
sung by the choir.  It is generally about one hour in duration.

The Nov.22 service is offered in honour of the 62nd anniversary of marriage
between Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
It takes place at 7 pm at Christ Church, Long Sault (located at the Corner
of Mille Roches Rd. and Bethune Ave.).

Please let me know if you need more information.

Yours,
Rev. Stephen Silverthorne

December 2009: Due to reader request, Mary Lynn Alguire and I have a special offer for my readers and friends as a Christmas gift idea:

A Farran Mackenzie History Mystery Bus Tour Gift Certificate

The Tour for 2010 will be restructured and rewritten to include Iroquois, due to the release of the final novel On a Darkling Plain. As this will make changes to the time and distance, we do not know at this time the adjusted cost and schedule of the new tour. However, as we have had requests for advance tickets to purchase as Christmas gifts now, Mary Lynn and I decided to issue a limited run of gift certificates for the 2010 tours.

Each certificate costs $50.00 and this will go toward the final cost of the 2010 tickets. Each certificate will also guarantee the holder first choice of tour (July, August or September) in the upcoming season. When the new tours have been finalized and the new operating costs established, the certificate holders (and/or their givers) will be notified and can then pay the balance.

Only 40 gift certificates will be issued for the 2010 season. If you are interested in purchasing a certificate as a gift for someone special, please notify us here to reserve one (or more). Then send a cheque for $50.00 per certificate ordered made out to Maggie Wheeler, addressed to:
