Letter to the Editor: Village Board's View
Residents have recently approached members of the Village Board stating their concern that
the board is or was considering extending water and sewer lines from the village limits to
Leishman Point. Citizens have expressed a concern that their water and sewer bills could
increase as a result of this rumored extension.
The Village Board would like to inform the public that this is a rumor. The board has no
plans to extend water and sewer, nor has the board discussed water and sewer line
extensions. This rumor may be a result of misinformation, and ongoing discussions
regarding the upcoming referendum regarding Leishman Point. The Town Government will
address water and sewer services for Leishman Point after the referendum passes.
The Town Government and the Village Board believe there are numerous possibilities to
address water and sewer services for Leishman Point other than the rumored extension of
water and sewer lines. The Town Government's decision to pursue the sale of property on
Leishman Point for residential use is supported by the Village Board.
The Village Board believes it is the most secure, and viable way to get this property back
on the tax rolls, and to increase the Town's tax base. We urge all citizens to voice their
opinion on October 14, 2003. A yes vote would help the Town to stabilize the tax base.
Don't miss this opportunity.
